Our brief asked Barry to submit ideas for the re-branding of an historic house museum, Strangers’ Hall, and associated graphics and interpretation as part of a major re-display programme. We needed a creative solution to embody the idea of the museum and its varied collections in a fresh and original way, avoiding an obviously ‘heritage’ approach.
Barry presented a number of ideas, including a bold scheme which we chose without hesitation, because it was so appealing, different and ‘right’ for us. It allowed for the adaptation of a central strong image to suggest a variety of historical subjects and eras and still present a harmonious whole: no mean feat!
This scheme was worked up over the next few months to deliver a superb set of signs, panels, interpretation bats and identity artwork. Our ideas were translated into imaginative visuals, and we were given plenty of opportunity to tweak and refine the product. At every stage Barry took the trouble to tease out the complexities of the job and presented all ideas and finished artwork with meticulous attention to detail. We were particularly impressed
with the way he was able to turn around revisions and new requests to comply with an extremely tight timetable.
The new identity of the museum has been extremely well- received by our visitors: the
vast increase in visitor numbers speaks for itself! It has been a great pleasure to work
with Barry and I am already recommending him to colleagues.
